Prerequisites

The following are requirements for Theia Bat Tracking:

  • An active Theia3D license

  • Up-to-date software: Theia3D Axiom v2025.2.0 or later

  • Theia Bat Tracking add-on package

Enable Bat Tracking Feature

To use the Bat Tracking feature, it must be enabled during startup of Theia3D or Theia3D Batch:

  2. Adjust the Engine Settings. In the Engine Settings panel, navigate to the Joint Detector Size tab.

Processing Data

Once Theia3D or Theia3D Batch have been launched with the Track Bat option enabled, processing markerless batting data to obtain athlete and bat kinematics is no different than processing other movement data in Theia3D.

Once the videos have been organized and the calibration file assigned, the following typical steps can be followed:

In Theia3D:

  1. Load the formatted video data.

  2. Load the calibration file corresponding to the video data.

  3. Adjust the preferences as desired. (Preferences specific to Bat Tracking can be found in the following section, Bat Tracking Preferences.)

  4. Use the Run Analysis button to process the movement trial.

In Theia3D Batch:

  1. Select the batch directory.

  2. Select the desired output format(s).

  3. Adjust the preferences as desired, for all trials. (Preferences specific to Bat Tracking can be found in the following section, Bat Tracking Preferences.)

  4. Use the Run Batch button to begin the batch analysis.
